From: Alan White on 23 Jul 2010 04:04 My partner normally uses an Olympus 420 DSLR but she finds it too bulky and fiddly for hill walking. What she wants is a fairly rugged, good quality, compact digital camera with a proper viewfinder. I've done a quick search and nothing has emerged as being suitable. Advice, please. -- Alan White Mozilla Firefox and Forte Agent. Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow, overlooking Lochs Long and Goil in Argyll, Scotland. One of the Olympus pen cameras might do - I think you can get viewfinder addons. -- Mike Bristow mike(a)urgle.com

In all other respect though its a great camera. My wife keeps ours in her handbag all the time. -- Geoff Berrow (Put thecat out to email) It's only Usenet, no one dies. EVF is electronic of course, but works well. Same 4/3rds sensor size. Of course there are later versions, but the G1 is selling exceptionally cheaply now, and the 20mm Panasonic lens is fantastic! eg. http://www.mathersoflancashire.co.uk/html/g-series.html Mike |
