From: R.W. on 12 Jul 2010 16:49 I have two .psd images with clear backgrounds that I would like to merge into a single image with a clear background. I was able to do it once, but I can't recall how. When I merge the two files, they end up with a solid white background. I even saved the two .psd files as .gifs (also with clear backgrounds), but they also end up with a solid white background after merging. Can someone straighten me out on how to do this please? Thanks!

You'll get two layers, with a clear background. Now the important thing is that you should NOT flatten the image to get one layer, because thag will indeed give you a solid white background. Instead, select the top layer and use 'Merge Down'. Finally, save as PSD again, not as GIF. -- Johan W. Elzenga, Editor/Photographer, www.johanfoto.com
