Right this is an old 35mm film camera. It was working fine until yesterday
when I switched it on the camera made a whirring sound and there is a HELP
flashing on the LCD display on the top of the camera. The user manual says
to remove the battery and re-insert but this hasn't cleared the HELP
message. All the other LCD display information show up like how many shots
left to take etc but I cannot do anything else with the camera. I cannot
take a picture as the shutter release button won't depress, I cannot switch
to AF as it's somehow stuck on MF, nothing works when I open the side door
where I can manually set the ISO speed etc. Any pointers as to what's went
wrong? Is there anywhere in the UK that would do a repair?

TIA

What are you wittering on about? The battery has just been replaced with the
exact same battery that's been in the camera since I purchased it, so it's
nothing to do with that.

You two seem to be talking at cross-purposes. The original poster has
taken out and re-insterted the original battery in the camera. The
other poster is suggesting that a new battery should inserted. It may
be that the original battery is declining in power and should be
replaced by a new battery.

Rather a shame to help the original poster in any way considering his
rude response to an attempt to help.
