Hi, I am a photographer about to get a new PC and would love to have
some idea on what to look for to run CS2 as quickly and efficiently as
possible.
It's currently taking ages to even load my photos on my old PC and so
I am hoping to increase my speed and performance.
The only posts I can find about this tend to be 4 or 5 years old, so
I'm hoping someone can help me with what I should look for today for
optimum speed, graphics etc. so that I can go to Dell or similar and
order. Any and all help is really appreciated!

Thanks,

Lynn

As much RAM as you can afford. And, assuming you're doing MS, I think
you'd be well advised to stay away from vista until at least SP1 is
issued.

CS3 beta is even slower. Photoshop is one of the most demanding programs
you can use on a computer so you'll want a fast CPU, tons of fast memory
and a fast huge hard drive. Fancier video cards are geared toward 3D
video gaming so that's less critical but you do want ample video RAM.

this will keep you flying
Intel "Core 2 Duo 6600
2 gig of ram
160 gig hard drive for the operating system and programs
500 gig hard drive for storage
a NVIDIA 7900 GTX video card with 512 ram, best bang for the buck for what
you're doing

you can up these or lessen them a LITTLE but I certainly would use less ram.

Good Luck,

Jim
