After using PSE 3 for years with no hangups, it suddenly won't launch. I
get a message saying "Application failed to launch correctly."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 3 twice and it's still the same.

My operating system is XP Home.

Any ideas, please?

It sounds to me like a file got corrupted. You may need to re-install
the program. Does it or the control panel offer a "repair" option?

Now, I've uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 3 three times and it still
won't launch. I didn't see a repair option in the control panel. Thanks
for trying to help.

Which firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware or security suite is installed?
There are some that cause problems which don't always appear immediately.

I used to have McAfee and then uninstalled it and switched to Symantec
because my ISP provided it free, with updates. Occasionally my computer
crashes while using PSE or many other non-photo programs, and and error
report from Microsoft indicates that McAfee is causing the problem. I've
uninstalled it and can't find any remaining McAfee programs when I go
to Add/Remove programs.
