Is there any legal issue about taking photographs in a public place at an event considered a public one? A friend suggested I should have been at at the procession for the funeral of Bob Probert (former Red Wing/NHL enforcer), as there were many celebrities there. I thought that would have been a bit of a personal time for them and probably they would not have appreciated having someone snapping pictures to sell t... 25 Jul 2010 15:10

Scanning Negatives and Slides I just got a new Digital Film and Slide Scanner from VuPoint Solutions. Does a decent job but it seems to be very difficult in keeping a clean environment, that is, preventing dust spots on the scan. It came with a "lens cleaner" to clean off the glass plate in front of the scan head, and I occasionally had to use ... 1 Jul 2010 16:46
Many Shots? I am about to buy a new compact digitial camera. I want to be able to do something that can be solved in 2 ways. 1) A remote control shutter. Canon's stock 18-55 IS lens -- worse than the 18-55 non-IS lens? I've got a Rebel T1i and XTi. Both currently have the stock/kit (well, for the Rebel T1i) 18-55 image stabilization lens. For the record, I'm not a very good photographer and certainly don't know all the features on my camera, and most of my pictures are taken in CA or Full Auto mode. Many are taken from a movin... 13 Jun 2010 02:58
BBC podcast on photography and the law Today's Law in Action on BBC Radio 4 was very interesting, covering both the issues of photographers right to take pictures in a public place, and also CCTV and the police photographing political demonstrators and the legal implications all round re. data protectin, human rights, right of privacy etc. A number ... 4 Jul 2010 14:31
