I recently purchased and downloaded this product. When I open to edit the
screen display is a dark gray color. This causes the "brushes" screen to be
also dark gray and the brushes themselves display black. This is really hard
to use. Is there a way to change the default color on Photoshop?

Click on Edit/preferences/general then adjust the brightness slider.
