From: S S on 18 Aug 2007 03:00 I have some 600 x 400 jpeg pictures that I want to use for a keyfob, When I reduce the size down to 4 x 3 cms (the size of keyring insert) I am losing the sharpness and they are looking like out of focus. Am i doing something wrong or is this normal. I am using `image size` in photoshop to reduce them. Any help appreciated, but keep it simple as I am not too familiar with photoshop.

Keep the tick in 'Constrain Proportions' and alter either only the Width or Height. Doing this will show what the new size should be and work from there. Maybe it should be necessary to alter the canvas proportions but doing it this way will lead you to keep it proportional. Dave
From: Don Leman on 20 Aug 2007 00:07 Use the crop tool set to 4cm x 3cm and leave the resolution blank. This should retain sharpness. What is the resolution of the images at 600 pixels by 400 pixels? If you want to reduce the print size but keep the same number of pixels, turn OFF "resample image." -- Photography, kink, polyamory, shareware, and more: all at http://www.xeromag.com/franklin.html

The aspect ratio limits you to an image which is 1.5 times as long as it is wide. If you are determined to create that portion of the image which will fit 4x3 cms, then your only choice is the crop tool. Jim
